Lucy’s on a Plate is something of an Ambleside institution. It is a friendly local restaurant serving a range of delicious international cuisine and has a loyal local following. Both Ambleside residents and visitors to the area are treated to a warm welcome and a relaxing dining experience.
Inside, Lucy’s on a Plate is stylish and inviting. It has a number of different areas to which to settle for some delicious food and drink. There’s the bar area with comfortable sofas and views out of the floor to ceiling windows, an open fire and tables in the centre of the restaurant, a conservatory out at the back and a walled courtyard garden beyond that. Whether diners are choosing to dine al fresco or inside the restaurant’s ambient interior, service is attentive and personalised.
On the daytime menu, diners will find a range of snacks and light meals including sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes. The evening menu changes daily and has a great selection of dishes to choose from. North African tagine made with Lakeland lamb and Turkish apricots, red snapper cooked in Cajun spices and a more traditional local venison steak served with red cabbage and wild mushrooms, give some idea of the delicious variety of flavours on offer.
Lucy’s on a Plate is located in the centre of Ambleside and in the heart of the Lake District. Visitors to Ambleside will find Zeffirellis Arthouse Cinema and Jazz Café a short walk away and, also, the Armitt Gallery, Museum and Library nearby. There is street parking available outside the restaurant and a bus stop around the corner with routes to Lancaster, Windermere and Coniston.
